Position Overview
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estate Butler / Household Manager to join a prestigious private residence in St Moritz, Switzerland.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall upkeep, presentation, and smooth operation of the property throughout the year, ensuring the residence is maintained to the highest luxury standards across all seasons, including the winter ski period.
This role requires a highly organised, hands-on professional with strong operational, hospitality, and estate maintenance capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Property Maintenance & Inspections
- Ensure the residence is maintained in immaculate condition at all times.
- Conduct frequent property inspections to uphold high standards.
- Oversee seasonal preparation of the house (winter, spring, ski season readiness).
- Manage chimney maintenance and arrange chimney sweeps as required.
- Ensure fireplaces are properly maintained and operational.
Housekeeping & Presentation
- Carry out and oversee housekeeping duties.
- Ensure all guest and family areas are clean, organised, and fully prepared.
- Clean and maintain indoor swimming pool areas.
- Polish silverware, flatware, and fine household items.
- Maintain high presentation standards throughout the property.
Household Administration
- Prepare monthly financial statements.
- Manage household purchasing and procurement.
- Maintain and update the house manual, contact lists, and telephone/address records.
- Keep accurate records of household operations and suppliers.
Vehicle & Equipment Care
- Take care of household vehicles, including washing and general upkeep.
- Check ski equipment and ensure it is maintained and ready for use.
Hospitality & Guest Services
- Organise and support private events and guest entertainment.
- Provide mixology and beverage service as required.
- Assist with guest preparations and hospitality arrangements.
Seasonal Preparation
- Prepare the property for seasonal transitions:
- Spring cleaning and wardrobe rotation
- Winter ski season preparation
- General seasonal maintenance and readiness
Additional Duties
- Care for library books and maintain organisation of library spaces.
- Support general household operations as required by the Principals.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience as a Butler, Estate Manager, or Senior Household Professional.
- Strong all-round property management skills.
- Experience with luxury private residences or alpine estates.
- High attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Ability to manage both hands-on duties and administrative tasks.
- Strong knowledge of household operations and seasonal property care.
Desirable
- Experience in alpine or ski resort environments.
- Mixology and beverage service experience.
- Knowledge of luxury vehicle care and maintenance coordination.
- Familiarity with high-end household systems and estate logistics.
