Position Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly capable Estate Manager to oversee the smooth operation of a large private estate.

The Estate Manager will be responsible for ensuring the property is maintained to the highest standards at all times, particularly given the frequent presence of the Principal on-site. This is a hands-on role requiring strong operational oversight, leadership, and excellent organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities

Estate Operations & Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of a large private estate.
  • Ensure the property is fully prepared and maintained for the arrival of the Principal and guests.
  • Maintain continuous readiness of all guest rooms and common areas.
  • Coordinate all estate operations to ensure five-star standards at all times.

Staff & Contractor Management

  • Recruit, manage, and supervise household staff, including domestic couples where required.
  • Coordinate external contractors and service providers.
  • Ensure all maintenance, repairs, and service work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Guest Services & Hospitality

  • Meet and greet Principal and guests, including airport arrivals and departures.
  • Oversee guest hospitality arrangements during their stay.
  • Prepare rooms and ensure all guest requirements are anticipated and fulfilled.

Travel & Logistics

  • Arrange all travel requirements for the Principal and guests.
  • Coordinate transportation logistics to and from the island.
  • Ensure smooth execution of all arrival and departure schedules.

Financial Administration

  • Manage estate budgets and financial planning.
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping and accounting records.
  • Use Microsoft Excel confidently for financial tracking and reporting.
  • Monitor expenditure and ensure cost-effective estate operations.

Additional Duties

  • Occasionally act as a tour guide for guests visiting nearby landmarks, including a local castle.
  • Provide flexible support across all aspects of estate operations as required.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience managing a large private estate, luxury property, or similar operation.
  • Strong experience in contractor and staff management.
  • Competence in budgeting, bookkeeping, and basic accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • High level of flexibility and adaptability.

Desirable

  • Experience in island or remote estate management.
  • Background in luxury hospitality or private service environments.
  • Knowledge of guest relations at high-net-worth level.
