Position Overview
A long-standing client of The British Butler Institute is seeking an experienced and professionally qualified Butler to join their exclusive country house hotel located in the beautiful Cambridge countryside.
This prestigious property offers just 12 guest rooms, providing an intimate and highly personalised guest experience. The successful candidate will be passionate about hospitality, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrate the highest standards of butler service and guest care.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Services
- Welcome and escort guests upon arrival.
- Conduct guest rooming and orientation of hotel facilities.
- Deliver exceptional front-of-house service throughout the guest journey.
- Provide personalised concierge services and local recommendations.
- Anticipate guest needs and ensure memorable experiences.
Butler Services
- Assist with unpacking and packing guest luggage.
- Provide bespoke guest assistance throughout their stay.
- Manage special requests and coordinate services with other departments.
- Maintain the highest standards of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Front of House Operations
- Support daily front-of-house activities.
- Coordinate guest arrivals and departures.
- Ensure public areas and guest-facing spaces maintain impeccable standards.
- Assist with guest transportation and driving duties when required.
General Duties
- Work collaboratively with the hotel team to deliver exceptional service.
- Assist with additional duties associated with a small luxury hotel operation.
- Promote a welcoming and refined atmosphere for all guests.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Formal Butler qualification from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of 4–5 years' experience as a Butler in a luxury hotel, private household, estate, or similar environment.
- Excellent communication and guest relations skills.
- Strong understanding of luxury hospitality standards.
- Full driving licence and confidence in driving guests when required.
- Professional appearance and presentation.
Desirable
- Previous experience within a boutique luxury hotel.
- A genuine appreciation for countryside living and rural hospitality.
- Strong knowledge of concierge services and local destination management.
- Experience in luxury guest transportation.
